QField is one of the most effective and versatile tools for collecting geospatial data directly in the field, thanks to its ability to fully inherit the structure, symbology, and logic defined within a QGIS project. Its strength lies in enabling fast, reliable work in variable operational conditions, supported by a mobile-optimized interface and robust offline data management through GeoPackage.
Within the SoilWise environment, a dedicated QGIS project has been prepared for its corresponding GeoPackage, designed to shape the field user experience in advance. Custom forms, controlled dropdown lists, mandatory fields, logical constraints, and dynamic sections serve as essential components for reducing errors and standardizing data acquisition, while maintaining a smooth and intuitive workflow.
Once transferred to the device, the project can be used in QField to record observations, capture geometries via GPS or manual digitizing, attach photographs, and update attributes immediately. The interaction between QGIS and QField thus combines the power of desktop modeling with the practicality of mobile data collection, ensuring data consistency and operational continuity between office work and field activities. This integration makes QField not just a simple data collection tool, but a true extension of the GIS project, supporting professional activities in agricultural, environmental, forestry, or territorial contexts, where precision, speed, and workflow robustness are essential.
